Under the fur: how the costume is built
The performer sees the show from the inside, so the build matters. A costume has a head, a body suit, hands and feet, and sometimes a tail or props. The head is what the audience looks at first, and it gets the most attention.
When the performer stays in costume for long, a small fan fixed in the head keeps air moving around the face, and a cooling vest under the inner liner takes the edge off the heat on the body. Both are options, and our dedicated guide explains them.
