Inside a mascot costume it gets warm fast, and a comfortable performer gives a better show. Two options help: a small fan fixed in the head keeps air moving around the face, and a cooling vest under the inner liner draws heat away from the body through long hours of entertaining.

Staying cool on stage: fan and cooling vest for mascot costumes

A fan inside the head

Sends a strong stream of air through the head so the performer stays fresh and at ease.

A vest under the inner liner

Helps carry heat away from the body, so the wearer can keep going through hours of performing.

The fan in the mascot head

Where the power comes from

  • A USB power bank runs it (not included)
  • Light to carry and quick to swap

Setting up the fan

The vest goes on first, under the inner liner

When the performer needs the extra help

A mascot head is a closed space, and the face gets hot and damp quickly. That shows up at sports matches, parades, trade shows, fairs and promotions, anywhere the performer stays inside for a long time. The fan moves air around the head while the vest works on the body, so each cause of discomfort has an answer.

They do not depend on each other. Use the fan alone for a short appearance, the vest alone under a light costume, or both on a long day.

The power bank: what to pick and how to use it

The fan takes its power over USB, and the power bank is not included. Look for one with a standard USB output, read the fan details in your quote, and ask us if you cannot tell which one fits your order.

Charge it before each outing and have a second one ready for a long day. The wire runs through the costume's hidden pocket, so the power bank stays out of view and the performer's hands stay free for waving and high fives.

How the vest sits on the body

The vest is worn close to the body, beneath the inner liner. The liner hides it, so the costume looks exactly the same from the outside.

Dress in this order: vest, inner liner, then costume. The vest stays against the body and dressing goes quickly, which helps when several performers must change in a hurry between sets.

Keeping the gear in good shape

Switch the fan off and unplug it before cleaning. Wipe the housing with a dry or slightly damp cloth, keep the fan out of water, and let the inside of the head dry completely before putting it away.

Follow the care label on the vest and the inner liner, and store everything somewhere dry with some airflow. Look over the wire and the connector now and then, and replace anything damaged before the next show.

Looking after the person inside

Cooling gear makes the costume easier to wear, but it is no substitute for rest. Plan regular breaks somewhere cool, drink water, and stop right away if the performer feels dizzy or unwell.

At long events, agree on a signal with a helper who can steer the performer through the crowd and watch for tiredness.

Ask for it with your mascot

You can request the fan and the cooling vest together with a new custom mascot. Name them in your quote request or choose the option at checkout, and tell us how long the performer is usually inside the costume so we can advise you.

What you get

  • Fast cooling from a strong airflow
  • A vest that fits comfortably
  • USB power you can carry anywhere
  • Safe, durable and well made
  • A good match for sports, events and promotions
